Are you Organized for Life?

I finished that organizing book that I mentioned in the meme post. My complete review is posted today over at 5 Minutes for Mom.

On a personal note, I've been doing a great job with the decluttering! I know that it's a forever process, but I've tackled some areas that have been needing a serious overhaul and it does indeed feel satisfying!

I may be a little sparse (again) this week, because my Dad and his main squeeze will be visiting. However, they are doing a stopover on the way back from Europe, so I think that they will be jetlagged, so I might be posting after they go to bed with the kids at 8pm!

My best friend and me joined eachother in the decluttering-fight :-) ...

We live about 7 hours apart, but we agreed to throw or give 10 things a day away and email eachother the list.

This is fun, really!
We are both up to about 200 items now and we honestly see no difference at all so far. So way to go!

My home is for sale, so for the first time in my life I am organized, and I like it! Who knew? The first step was to get rid of the clutter, things that made the house too full. I found that most of the things were stashed away for the future, and I hadn't touched them for five years. I don't miss them. The other things were papers. As an author/writer I drown in papers, but that's on top of bills, newspapers, magazines, etc. I'm still working on that one.

I love your blog.

I've been decluttering, too. I'm trying to simply my life in all areas and get rid of junk (physical & spiritual) that's weighing me down. It's been such a relief to give (and throw) things away! I need to pick up the Mt. Vernon method...I think that will really help me make quicker progress.

I've still got a long way to go. Like Suzanne, my biggest problem is all the paper clutter.

Another great book to try is "Simplify your Life" by Marcia Ramsland.

I wish! My house is definately lived in. Two teens who are forever changing--My husband noticed that our 14 year old son had changed his room AGAIN!. He keeps taking down posters that have been on his walls for years--

The clutter that I HATE is in the garage. I grew up with a 'working' garage you know the kind that is clean as a pin and it is used only for cars?!

When we moved into our current house 4 years ago, my father-in-law had just sold his home. (5400 square feet of it for 10 years) He moved to CA from NM so he stored all the boxes he COULDN'T part with in our new garage. It is stuffed to the gills.

Dad visits us probably once every 3 months and always says he needs to clean it out but he never seems to have the time. I thought that when I mentioned that my son, his grandson wanted to start a band and they wanted to practice in the garage that Dad would get it cleaned out.

My son has 2 bands going and they practice in his bedroom. The garage is as full as ever. I would love to just chuck all the stuff but my husband says its not ours and dad needs to go through it all. There are pages of paper and files from the Vietnam War.

I shouldn't truly complain. I love my life and my family. I guess we are clutterbound for a little bit longer. AAGGH!
