The best part of any weather event is the sensational news coverage that surrounds it. My favorite name for this was "Winter Wallop."
There are so many things wrong with this statement from the AP News item I saw on yahoo:
At a Walmart in the Richmond, VA area, Nnika White took advantage of the mostly desolate store, buying a drum set for her 2 1/2 year son. White, dressed in a toboggan, scarf and flannel-like jacket, said she works long hours at the law firm she owns and doesn't get much time to shop.
"It's nice because no one's here. For shopping, it's great, but the roads are very, very bad," she said.
Seriously -- a drum set?? For a two-year-old??

We have been wondering how bad you got it. Was it worse in New York? We have been watching the news too. Nothing here but 60 degree weather, did some yard work. Enjoy it!
She can justify the drums because she works long hours at the law firm she owns. The nanny will be reaping the benefits of the purchase.
I was wondering how the storm affected you guys. Love the pictures!
We got about 3-4 inches, and some rough driving on Saturday morning. It's still snowing this morning, lightly, and we have a pretty covering, but the roads are in good shape -- I like this snow situation best. :)
7-8 inches is all you got? I did the yardstick in our front yard and it showed 13 inches. The backyard had even deeper drifts. I love snowy days!! Usually Joel still has to go to work so I was thrilled that this hit Sat. night and we could play/shovel out all day Sunday.
I'm with you on the drums for a 2 year old. That's crazy! But then going shopping in a blizzard-like snow storm is crazy, too.
For once in a lifetime, we got the heavy side of the storm-- about 18 inches here. :) YAY for sledding fun!
Beautiful! We didn't get nearly that much, but it was pretty while it lasted.
Wow! Snow? blowing in your door? Who knew?
